『 Global ATGS News | Field Visits & Shooting in Miaoli 』
First stop of the semester: Miaoli District Agricultural Research and Extension Station, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan.
The Associate Researcher & Director Pei-Che Chung (鍾珮哲) give us the introduction of biological control branch in Taifu township, Miaoli county in Taiwan.
During this field trip, we realized that with the changes of the time, in response to the needs of agriculture, biological control has become the main research topic. Natural enemies are an important part of biological control including parasitic and predatory natural enemies.
When it comes to biological control, traditional methods takes a lot of time and labor, in order to improve the efficiency, Miaoli District Agricultural Research and Extension Station develop the intelligent mass production system of the natural enemies.
Besides natural enemies, strawberry is another important research project, focus on strawberry breeding and cultivaiton management.
All students enjoyed and learned a lot of new things through this field trip to miaoli！
