『 Global ATGS News | Field Visits to Kuo Hsing Group 』

This semester (Fall semester of 2022/2023), The first field trip in "Special Topics in Poultry Production Medicine and Products Processing" course, Prof. Chen and Prof. Chou took us to the Kuo Hsing Group in Changhua County.

𝐊𝐨𝐮 𝐇𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 was founded in 1997, and during these 25 years, they have extended their Business Unit from a feed mill into a corporation that also includes Livestock Farms, Packing Houses, Meat Processing Houses and investing in Cold Chain Logistics, producing commodities and food processing.

𝐊𝐨𝐮 𝐇𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 made continuous efforts of feed manufacturing and animal husbandry in the industry, actively carrying out the strategy of vertical integration. They hope to lead the traditional agricultural and livestock farming industry toward the trend of modern science and technology agriculture.

During our visits to 𝐊𝐨𝐮 𝐇𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 this time, General Manager Mr. Huang took us to their duck farm and slaughterhouse, about the slaughterhouse, there are several regular steps and separating into Slaughter Area, Poultry Blood Temporary Storage Area, etc. Since sanitizing the slaughterhouses is an essential criterion to keep the area clean, GM Huang introduces the method, frequency, and necessary training for workers.

Secondly, about the duck farm, they showed us the automatic feeding machine, and the way of separating different ages of ducks in animal husbandry.

After the visits to 𝐊𝐨𝐮 𝐇𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩, the Director General of 𝐏𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑.𝐎.𝐂 Mr. Chen took us to his chicken farm, he introduced the differences in feeding methods and breeds between the Native Chicken and Silky Chicken.

Furthermore, Mr. Chen's farm imports the technique of installing solar panels to participate in the renewable development plan, which is a hot topic for helping the island resolve its energy needs.

From visiting the field, all students knew more about the process, the cautions, and the equipment of the slaughterhouse.
